About Cordoba and Places to Visit
Mercury Jets provides private jet charter flights to and from Cordoba.
Cordoba is the second-largest city in all of Argentina and the province’s capital of the same name. With a population of about 1.5 million, it is conveniently located not far from Buenos Aires. It is on a large plain just east of the mountains with a river that empties into a large reservoir.
The Jesuit quarter of Cordoba is the main attraction of the city. Twenty years ago, it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. When it was built, members of the Jesuit order came here from all over Europe, bringing new ideas, styles, and techniques. The area is home to the National University and the country’s oldest Templo de la Compañia de Jesus.
The Cathedral of Cordoba has been a National Historic Landmark of Argentina since 1941. It is in the Neoclassical style, has images of saints and frescoes. The Teatro del Libertador is the main theater in Cordoba. Architect Francesco Tamburini designed the building of the theater. He designed the theater in an Italian style reminiscent of Italian Renaissance buildings. The list of attractions also includes La Mundial, the Museo de Bellas Artes Evita Palacio Ferreyra, the Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes Emilio Caraffa, the Iglesia de Sagrado Corazon.
Near the city center, about 6 miles is Ingeniero Aeronáutico Ambrosio L.V. Taravella International Airport (COR, SACO). It serves Cordoba and receives almost 3 million tourists a year.
